Developing healthy, trustworthy churches and ministries to meet your community’s real needs. This two day Transforming Communities Workshop is a community engagement training for church leaders, ministry staff, and nonprofit teams. Instead of one size fits all programs, you will learn simple processes to listen to your context, name your organization’s identity and strengths, and design next steps that fit your neighborhood.
Framework
Organizations that make the biggest impact are filled with people who stay attentive to the rapidly changing environments where they serve. They pay close attention to what is happening internally and work to build a strong sense of identity, belonging, and mission before turning their attention to listening to their community.
The Transforming Communities framework gives churches and ministry nonprofits practical tools for organizational development and community engagement. At the end of this workshop, participating teams gain:
- Greater clarity about their people, story, and organizational identity
- Foundations for healthy teamwork and shared leadership
- A repeatable process to understand identity, belonging, and mission in their context
- New skills in listening to the community through basic ethnography, design thinking, and collaborative planning
Transforming Communities is offered through a variety of workshop style trainings depending on your organization’s needs. This March 13–14 event is an on site intensive designed for leaders and teams who want to connect their internal life with the needs and opportunities of their community.
Transforming Communities helps you understand your local context and match your organization’s strengths to the needs and opportunities of the community.
Who is this workshop for?
This Transforming Communities Workshop is ideal for:
- Pastors, elders, vestries, and church boards
- Ministry staff teams discerning next steps in a changing context
- Nonprofit leaders connected to congregations or faith based work
We especially encourage churches to send 2–4 leaders together. When a small team shares the same community engagement training experience, it is much easier to bring the tools home and keep the work going after the workshop ends.
